Terms of Use
Last updated: July 29, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Pace of Aging mobile application and the biopsychometric.com website (together, the "Service"), operated by BioPsychometric ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Important Medical Disclaimer
The Service is for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
The assessments and risk estimates provided by the Service — including the Pace of Aging (biological aging) score, the stroke risk estimate, and the cardiovascular disease risk estimate — are based on published population-level statistical models. They describe how a group of people with similar characteristics tends to fare on average; they cannot tell you what will happen to you as an individual.
Always seek the advice of a qualified physician or other health professional with any questions about a medical condition, your health, or before making any decision related to your health. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you have read or seen in the Service. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your doctor or emergency services immediately.
The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
2. About the Risk Estimates
The risk assessments are re-implemented from published, peer-reviewed science and are provided with attribution:
- The stroke risk estimate is based on the Revised Framingham Stroke Risk Profile (Dufouil et al., Circulation 2017;135:1145–1159).
- The cardiovascular risk estimate is based on the New Zealand PREDICT equations (Pylypchuk et al., Lancet 2018;391:1897–1907).
These models have known limitations. They were derived from specific populations and age ranges, they rely on the accuracy of the information you enter, and they do not account for every factor that affects your health. Where you provide an age below the range a model was validated for, the Service will tell you and will base the estimate on the youngest validated age; such estimates are especially approximate. Results should be interpreted with a health professional.
3. Your Account and Eligibility
You may create an account using Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for the information you provide and for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. You agree to provide accurate information; inaccurate inputs will produce inaccurate results. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
4. Subscriptions and Payments
Some features require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are sold and processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's terms. Payment is charged to your Apple account, and subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account settings. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to interfere with its normal operation, reverse-engineer it, access it by unauthorized means, or use it in any way that is unlawful or that could harm us or other users.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, text, and software, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. The underlying scientific equations are the work of their respective authors, cited above. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
7. No Warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including as to accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other laws that cannot be excluded.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for any decision made or action taken in reliance on the Service or its results. Your use of the Service and any reliance on its assessments is at your own risk.
9. Changes to the Service and These Terms
We may modify or discontinue the Service, or update these Terms, from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
